Year: 2012 Client: Antalis Paper Application: Antalis textured paper - River Sensation Medium/ Materials: Pen drawing & digital handling Achievement: Grade B Story & Concept My packaging for Antalis is based on the nature's rainforest. The main message of this is to create the sense of people's view towards rainforest , targeting the animals which will be affected by our actions to the rainforest such as deforestation for the manufacturing of paper products. In cases I've observed after all this years in the education system, some people ignored the fact that the wastage of a few pieces of paper would not have much impact on the environment, similarly the fact that forest is home for many animals. This is the part that I want to create a awareness on. Thus I’ve designed the package with the tagline of “You may not see them; doesn’t mean they don’t exist”. You may not see the animals living in the forest however they are indeed there; you may not see the consequences of wasting a few pieces of paper, however if everyone thinks in the same way, our environment will definitely be affected in the long run. Keeping
to Antalis’s environmental friendly position, Ink is a non - environmental
friendly product and thus its usage has been kept to the minimum, resulting in
my design of only the outline of the forest and animals are colored. The design
of the outline on the back cover is meant to create a surprising factor and
also serving as a solution for the illustration after the user attempts to spot
the hidden animals on the front cover. The Tagline & Colour
The tagline ' You might not see them '
also gives a subliminal message of the hidden elements in the front
cover. Thus the usage of colours on different sides combined with the tagline creates
an interaction between Antalis and it's customers. My colour scheme for this
product is brown instead of green which is the usual colour that people used to
refer to rain forest. This is to give a message that the production of paper
does not involve the leaves of the trees. The colour ' golden brown ' has been
chosen for my A4 and A3 packaging. The ' golden ' part of the colour is chosen
with reminder of the value of the remaining rainforest and the colour dark
brown which is used for the carrier packaging gives the feel of stability,
which represents Antalis 's position as a responsible and environmental friendly
company.
